New Delhi: A popular face in Hindi cinema – known for tickling the funny bone of movie lovers during the golden period – Deven Verma breathed his last on Tuesday morning. The 78-year-old actor suffered a cardiac arrest and kidney failure.
Reports suggest that the funeral will take place at 12 noon today, in Yerawada crematorium, Pune.
The actor worked with some of the best filmmakers of his time, such as Basu Chatterji, Hrishikesh Mukherjee and the likes. Deven Verma, known for his comic roles, was married to actor Ashok Kumar’s daughter Rupa Ganguly.Â
Deven Verma is known for his roles in films like ‘Angoor’, ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ and ‘Chamatkaar’. He was also seen in an important role in YRF’s ‘Dil Toh Paagal Hai’.
He had won Filmfare Best Comedian Award for ‘Chori Mera Kaam’, ‘Chor Ke Ghar Chor’ and ‘Angoor’ in which he played a double role.
