Gurgaon: Gurgaon has its first ‘all women’ police station. Yes, that’s right. The city’s first women’s police station, inaugurated on Friday will have 28 women cops and 10 male cops.
This police station is the old office of the traffic police in Sector 51, which has been renovated.
ACP Dharna Yadav will spearhead the functioning, while Inspector Umesh Bala will be the station house officer. There will be a team of 26 women cops, including two sub-inspectors (SI), three assistant sub-inspectors (ASI) and 21 junior staffers.
The team will have four head constables and 17 constables. The 10 male cops will be primarily involved in cases needing night investigation and travelling.
It was inaugurated by Rao Inderjit Singh Minister of State of Defence and Planning, who is the Gurgaon MP. Gurgaon Police Commissioner Navdeep Virk was also present.
