Bengaluru: If you are in Bengaluru and you block the movement of an ambulance racing to hospital with a siren, a strict action might take place against you and as offenders you might lose your driving licence.
Chief Minister Siddramaiah, while flagging off 150 new ambulances which join the existing 711-strong fleet of the government-run Arogya Kavacha 108 ambulance service, made it clear that motorists must have some concern for patients being rushed to hospitals in ambulances.
“Traffic is a menace on city roads. It’s a tough task for ambulance drivers. If other motorists don’t give ambulances the right of way, it becomes worse for drivers. Hence, we are thinking of cancelling the driving licence of motorists who come in the way of ambulance movement. Directions have been issued to police and the transport department about this,” he said.
