No justice for 26/11 but 500 crore lifeline for Pakistan

Date:

On a day the government should be raising the issue of justice for the 26/11 attack victims, there were reports that the decks were clear for a cricket series between India and Pakistan in Sri Lanka from December.

166 people lost their lives on November 26, and there is no sight of justice for the victims as the mastermind of the attack Hafiz Mohammed Saeed stays in Pakistan under the patronage and security provided by the Pakistan government.

The trial for the case had a tardy progress with those arrested still far away from punishment.

Sources confirmed to NewsMobile that the Sri Lankan government had sought India’s advice before agreeing to allow its venues for an Indo-Pakistan series.

The big question is that why is Prime Minister Narendra Modi bowing to the wishes of BCCI which sees commercial interest in pushing for this series. The cash strapped Pakistan Cricket Board will earn close to 500 crore if the series is held. The BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur is a BJP MP and sure a clear directive from the government will ensure that Thakur falls in line. For long the flip flops on Pakistan have cost India dearly and Pakistan has decided to look the other way on terrorism as it realises that India has had an inconsistent policy and there are many in India who will do their bidding.

One of the reasons for a spectacular victory for Prime Minister Narendra Modi was his strong willed approach on Pakistan, while there should be official channel of talks with Pakistan open only at the official level. But holding Cricket series with Pakistan at this juncture when our brave soldiers are dying and there is no justice for 26/11 victims is a signal that all is well and this shouldn’t be done.
