Ist Gurgaon Half Marathon on March 13 next year

The first Gurgaon Half Marathon will be organised on March 13 next year jointly by District Administration, Municipal Corporation, Haryana Urban Development Authority and ‘Running And Living Infotainment Private Limited.

Disclosing this here today, the Deputy Commissioner T L Satyaprakash said that the exact route of 21 kilometers will be announced soon.

The first half marathon in the city which is planned to cover diverse areas, including M G road, some parts of the Aravalli Hills, some residential areas, parks and schools.

“We look forward to enabling this run to build a stronger sporting culture as more and more come in as spectators, who later become participants and later take on running and physical activity as part of their daily lifestyle,” said Satyaprakash.

HUDA, MCG and the Gurgaon Police will be supporting this event and build this into an ever increasing engagement across the city, and promote and active lifestyle.

Rahul Verghese, the founder of Running And Living, said, “We started runs every month in Leisure Valley in May of 2008 when only stray dogs would run with us, and now it would be befitting if we could have a half marathon go through some of the city landmarks, after starting from Leisure Valley and showcase the huge growth in the running culture in the city which is fast becoming one of the running capitals of the country.

“We are in process of closing out marketing partnerships and some sponsorship over the coming weeks.”

The organisers are expecting to get around 2000 participants.
