Chennai floods: Here’s how you can help those on the ground

Date:

Floods in Chennai have immersed almost the entire city, throwing the administration into a tizzy. The Army and NDRF have been pressed into action for relief and rescue operations, and helicopters of the Indian Air Force have been deployed to distribute foods packets and other essential items to those stranded.

However, even before the government agencies could reach out those marooned in far flung places, it was the concerned citizens who organised themselves to extend help to those who needed it the most. It is people’s power and compassion that has emerged as the most important narrative out of this tragedy that has claimed so many lives.

If you are wondering how you could be a part of this great initiative to help those in Chennai, here’s a short guide on how to do it:

1. The Help Chennai campaign by Newsminute

2. The Bhoomika Trust’s campaign

3. Donate to Seva Bharati

Andhra Bank, a/c number-07841001104427 IFSC CODE- ANDB0000784 SWIFT CODE- ANDB IN BB

You could also reach out to Rajesh Varadarajan at 09840260631

4. World Vision India is accepting donations here.

5. A BitGiving campaign to provide relief kits and packages to 2500 families.

6. Perfect Foundation is also raising funds.

7. Rapid Response is raising funds as well.
