The Gurgaon Half Marathon will kick off this Sunday from leisure Valley at 7am.
Announcing this, the Gurgaon DC Satyaprakash, holding additional charge of MCG, said that the 1st of the 5 and 10km runs along the route will be held this Sunday.
“This is the first time all the agencies of the district ie Gurgaon Police, MCG, HUDA and the Administration have supported this type of event. The Commissioner Gurgaon Division will flag off the run on Sunday 20th,” he added.
The marathon is powered by Running And Living in association with Coca-Cola, supported by the Gurgaon Administration and Police
The meet up point is Leisure Valley Parking at 7am where many 1st time runners are being encouraged to come, so that they graduate from walkers into runners.
The 5km route goes past the Westin Hotel and enters MG road, and goes alongside the malls and turns back just before Sahara Mall to finish at Leisure Valley. The 10km route goes beyond Sahara Mall to Bristol Hotel and then gets on to the Gurgaon Faridabad road up to Silver Oaks apartments and returns from there to Leisure Valley.
This also is the actual final route for the 5km and 10km distances on the 13th of March when the Half Marathon will be held. “We are hoping to see many residents of nearby sectors and phases to come in for a morning run instead of a morning walk this coming Sunday. Coca-Cola will be providing hydration and music along the route and Max Hospital will provide medical care”, said Rahul Verghese of Running And Living Infotainment – the organiser of the runs.
“We are closing one side of the entire stretch of the route to ensure runner safety while yet managing 2 way traffic for the few people on the road early on Sunday morning and we would like to see more and more people take to running outdoors for an active and more healthy lifestyle,” said Mr Navdeep Virk, the Police Commissioner Gurgaon.
The route map of the 5 and 10km runs are enclosed as a reference to runners as also to other residents to make alternative travel arrangements give the route closure from 7am -930am on Sunday Dec 20th,
HUDA, MCG and the Gurgaon Police will be supporting this event and build this into an ever increasing engagement across the city, and promote and active lifestyle.

Each registrant will get an item of running gear and each finisher will get a medal and a certificate. The 10k and 21.1k runners will get a timing chip and a running T shirt.
