Rio 2016: India may open its medal tally today

Indian contingent at the Rio 2016 Olympics is gradually gaining track as games enter its second week.

While India is yet to open its medal tally, today it seems India will get at least one medal.

After defeat in the semis of mix-doubles, Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna will once again take court to give India’s its first medal on Saturday.

Dipa Karmakar will be in the spotlight today as she competes in the final of vaults.

Badminton singles will be back again as Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth are in action.

The last shooting event of Rio Games will be held on Sunday as men’s 50 m rifle 3 position will also be on Sunday. Gagan Narang will be India’s representation.

Boxer Manoj Kumar will play his pre-quarters on Sunday and the men’s hockey team will also play in the quarter-finals against Belgium.

In athletics, women’s marathon is the only event India’s representation is making its presence. OP Jaisha and Kavita Raut are the two athletes.
