AirAsia prohibits use of Samsung Galazy Note 7 on its flight

New Delhi, Sep 10 (PTI) Malaysian no-frills carrierAirAsia Berhad which runs a joint venture airline with TataSons in India, today prohibited the use of Samsung GalaxyNote7 mobile devices on its flight as well as some of thesubsidiary airlines, including AirAsia India. The decision to prohibit the use of the Samsung GalaxyNote7 mobile devices was taken in the wake of its recall dueto safety concerns over the battery issue, AirAsia said in atravel advisory, issued today. "Following the recall of the Galaxy Note 7 mobile deviceby Samsung due to safety concerns over its battery, AirAsiaand AirAsia X would like to inform all guests that the usageand charging of the device onboard all our flights areprohibited with immediate effect until further notice," itsaid. The advisory is applicable to all flights operated byAirAsia and its subsidiaries including AirAsia India, anairline spokesperson said. All guests travelling on AirAsia and AirAsia X with aSamsung Galaxy Note 7 must turn it off until disembarkationfrom the aircraft, it said adding the device must not be keptin any checked baggage as well. The travel advisory from AirAsia comes a day after theGovernment here prohibited the use of Samsung Galaxy Note7devices onboard an aircraft. AirAsia currently flies to six destinations –Bangalore,Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Trichy — whileAirAsia X flies to New Delhi. PTI IASRG
