Pet cats were abducted, trapped and skinned for their meat in Chennai. Police and animal rights activists raided on a tip off in Pallavaram area. The raid carried out by Police after Volunteers from People For Animals (PFA) convinced them.
The cats were found in a cage dehydrated and were boiled later on. An activist told, “It will take at least a month for the cats to recover from the shock and behave normally.”
G Venkatesan, a local police official, said,”When the PFA volunteers approached us for help, our team went and rescued the cats.” The rescued cats were sent to in the PfA shelter in Red Hills.
