  1.     The Polar Express

A young boy embarks on an extraordinary journey to the North Pole.
Little does he know that this journey will change his life in a way he
never imagined.

The Polar Express is a 2004 American Christmas 3D animated musical
fantasy film based on the 1985 children’s book of the same name by
Chris Van Allsburg, who served as one of the executive producers on
the film. Written, produced, and directed by Robert Zemeckis, the film
features human characters animated using the live action performance
capture technique. The film stars Daryl Sabara, Nona Gaye, Jimmy
Bennett, and Eddie Deezen, with Tom Hanks in six distinct roles.
Castle Rock Entertainment produced the film in association with
Shangri-La   Entertainment, ImageMovers, Playtone and Golden Mean, for
Warner Bros. Pictures. The visual effects and performance capture were
done at Sony Pictures Imageworks. It grossed $307 million worldwide.

2.     Home Alone

Eight-year-old Kevin is accidentally left behind when his family leaves for France. At first, he’s happy to be in charge; but when thieves try to break into his home, he puts up a fight like no other.

Home Alone is a 1990 American Christmas comedy film written and
produced by John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus. The film stars
Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister, a boy who is mistakenly left
behind when his family flies to Paris for their Christmas vacation.
Kevin initially relishes being home alone, but soon has to contend
with two would-be burglars played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. The
film also features Catherine O’Hara and John Heard as Kevin’s parents.
Culkin was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor –
Musical or Comedy.. It is the highest grossing Christmas movie of all
time at the North American box office. Home Alone has spawned a
successful film franchise with four sequels, including the 1992 film
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, the only Home Alone sequel to have the
original cast reprising their roles.

3.     Elf

Buddy, a human, is raised amongst elves at the North Pole. When he
discovers that he is not an elf, he travels to New York to search for
his biological father.

Elf is a 2003 American Christmas comedy film directed by Jon Favreau
and written by David Berenbaum. It stars Will Ferrell, James Caan,
Zooey Deschanel, Mary Steenburgen, Daniel Tay, Ed Asner, and Bob
Newhart. It was released in the United States on November 7, 2003 by
New Line Cinema. The story is about one of Santa’s elves (Ferrell) who
learns of his true identity as a human and goes to New York City to
meet his biological father (Caan), spreading Christmas cheer in a
world of cynics as he goes. The film received positive reviews from
critics and earned $220.4 million worldwide on a $33 million budget.
It inspired the 2010 Broadway musical Elf: The Musical and NBC’s 2014
stop-motion animated television special Elf: Buddy’s Musical
Christmas.

4.     Jingle All The Way

Howard, a haggard salesman, promises his son a Turbo Man toy for
Christmas. He is forced to fight every parent and travel all over town
to get the toy after he forgets to buy it.

Jingle All the Way is a 1996 American Christmas family comedy film
directed by Brian Levant and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and
Sinbad, with Phil Hartman, Rita Wilson, Jake Lloyd, James Belushi and
Robert Conrad. The plot focuses on two rival fathers, workaholic
Howard Langston (Schwarzenegger) and stressed out postal worker Myron
Larabee (Sinbad), both desperately trying to get a Turbo-Man action
figure for their respective sons on a last minute shopping spree on
Christmas Eve. Inspired by real-life Christmas toy sell-outs for
products such as the Cabbage Patch Kids and Mighty Morphin Power
Rangers, the film was written by Randy Kornfield. Producer Chris
Columbus rewrote the script, adding in elements of satire about the
commercialization of Christmas, and the project was picked up by 20th
Century Fox.

5.     The Santa Clause

The Santa Clause is a 1994 American Christmas fantasy family comedy
film directed by John Pasquin. It is the first instalment in The
Santa Clause trilogy and it stars Tim Allen as Scott Calvin, an
ordinary man who accidentally causes Santa Claus to fall from his roof
on Christmas Eve. When he and his young son, Charlie, finish St.
Nick’s trip and deliveries, they go to the North Pole where Scott
learns that he must become the new Santa and convince those he loves
that he is indeed Father Christmas. The film was followed by two
sequels, The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape
Clause (2006). In comparison to the original, the former received
mixed critical response while the latter was panned by most critics.

6.     Arthur Christmas

When Santa’s gawky son Arthur Claus learns that owing to a technical
glitch a little girl’s Christmas gift has been misplaced, he sets out
on a mission to deliver the present before it’s too late.

Arthur Christmas is a 2011 British-American 3D computer animated
Christmas comedy film, produced by Aardman Animations and Sony
Pictures Animation as their first collaborative project. The film was
released on 11 November 2011, in the UK, and on 23 November 2011, in
the USA. Directed by Sarah Smith, and co-directed by Barry Cook, it
features voices of James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Bill Nighy, Jim
Broadbent, Imelda Staunton, and Ashley Jensen. Set on Christmas night,
the film tells a story about Santa Claus’ clumsy son Arthur Claus who
discovers that the Santas’ high-tech ship has failed to deliver one
girl’s present. In response, he goes on a mission to save her
Christmas, accompanied only by his ageing grandfather, a rebellious
yet enthusiastic young Christmas Elf obsessed with wrapping gifts for
children, and a team of eight strong, magical yet untrained reindeer.
Arthur Christmas was very well received by critics, who praised its
animation and humorous, smart and heart-warming story.

7.   Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Grinch lives in solitude just outside Whoville. He hates the townsfolk and despises Christmas. Cindy Lou, a six-year-old girl who believes in the spirit of the festival, sets out to reform him.

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a 2000 American comedy
film directed by Ron Howard and written by Jeffrey Price and Peter S.
Seaman based on the 1957 story of the same name by Dr. Seuss. It was
the first Dr. Seuss book to be adapted into a full-length feature
film. Because the film is based on a children’s picture book, many
additions had to be made to the storyline to bring it up to
feature-length, including some information about the back story of the
title character. Most of the rhymes that were used in the book were
also then used in the film, though some of the lines were to some
degree changed, and several new rhymes were put in. The film was
produced by Howard and Brian Grazer, and starring Jim Carrey, Jeffrey
Tambor, Christine Baranski, Bill Irwin, Molly Shannon, Josh Ryan Evans
(in his final theatrical role), and introducing Taylor Momsen as Cindy
Lou Who. The film spent four weeks as the number-one film in the
United States. With Home Alone being the first, The Grinch is the
second highest-grossing holiday film of all time with over $345
million worldwide. It won the Academy Award for Best Makeup, and was
also nominated for Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design.

8.     Bad Santa

Bad Santa is a 2003 American Christmas black comedy crime film
directed by Terry Zwigoff, and starring Billy Bob Thornton, Tony Cox,
Lauren Graham, Brett Kelly, Lauren Tom, John Ritter, and Bernie Mac.
This was John Ritter’s last film appearance before his death on
September 11, 2003. The Coen brothers are credited as executive
producers. The film was released in the United States on November 26,
2003. The film was screened out of competition at the 2004 Cannes Film
Festival.[2] An unrated version was released on DVD on March 5, 2004
and on Blu-ray Disc on November 20, 2007 as Bad(der) Santa. A
director’s cut DVD was released in November 2006; it features
Zwigoff’s cut of the film, which is three minutes shorter than the
theatrical cut and ten minutes shorter than the unrated version. A
sequel, Bad Santa 2, was released on November 23, 2016.

 9.     National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Clark Griswold is really into Christmas and promises to make it a good
one until he turns everything completely around, causing a domino
effect of disasters. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is a 1989
American Christmas comedy film directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik.

It is the third installment in National Lampoon’s Vacation film series, and
was written by John Hughes, based on his short story in National
Lampoon magazine, “Christmas ’59”. The film stars Chevy Chase, Beverly
D’Angelo and Randy Quaid, with Juliette Lewis and Johnny Galecki as
the Griswold children Audrey and Rusty, respectively. Since its
release in 1989, Christmas Vacation has often been labeled as a modern
Christmas classic. It is also the only sequel in the Vacation series
to have spawned its own direct sequel: a 2003 made-for-TV release
entitled National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie’s
Island Adventure.

10.    Ernest Saves Christmas

The story revolves around a man who attempts to help Santa Claus find
a successor. Failure to find one would mean that there would be no
Christmas. Will Santa find the right successor?

Ernest Saves Christmas is a 1988 Christmas comedy film directed by
John R. Cherry III and starring Jim Varney. This is the first film to
feature Gailard Sartain’s character, Chuck along with Bill Byrge as
his brother, Bobby. It is the third film to feature the character
Ernest P. Worrell, and chronicles Ernest’s attempt to find a
replacement for an aging Santa Claus. Unlike the other Ernestmovies,
Ernest Saves Christmas is the only one that does not feature a
villain. It was produced by Joseph Akerman.
