  1. Lose weight

Make a fixed routine. Ban junk food in your diet. Include proteins and healthy carbohydrates. Salads and fresh juice are a must. Do exercise every day- gym, yoga, meditation and running. Drink green tea or lemon water every morning. Drink milk. You don’t have to eat supplements because they may cause harmful effects on your body. Lose weight in a natural way.

  1. Quit smoking

Everyone knows that smoking is harmful. It causes respiratory problems and lung cancer. It is easier to get addicted to smoking than it is to get rid of the addiction. It is hard a journey and you need a lot of will power to do it. Make sure you have family and friends who reinforce this behaviour. Avoid going to places where you know people will have a cigarette in their hand. If you see smoke or a lighter or cigarette, walk away from the situation. It will take you time but it will happen if you really want it to happen.

  1. Stay in touch

If you have a busy life, it is likely that you will lose touch with people. In the following year, make it a point that you stay in touch will friends, family, co-workers and relatives. No matter how time consuming your life is, don’t ever let go of people in your life. You need friends and family for daily survival. You cannot isolate yourself or become antisocial. Send messages, cards and letters. Call them regularly or video call them. Surprise them with gifts and let them know how important they are to you.

  1. Learn how to cook

If you are a student living all by yourself or even working, you may not have had the chance to learn how to cook. You mostly order food from outside. You may know how to cook some basic dishes but how often can you survive on the same three dishes? Start cooking. Get some recipe books or watch some tutorials on your computer or television. Try out new things. Your dishes may be inedible on your first few tries but if you keep trying, you will succeed.

  1. Read

Reading is the best way to acquire knowledge. Make reading a habit. Learn things about the world. Wake up 10 minutes earlier and read newspaper articles, magazines and journals. Go to a library and buy books on history, archaeology, science, cooking, architecture etc. Read fictional and non-fictional books. It is always better to know about events that have taken place in the past, are currently taking place now and may take place in the future. Basic knowledge comes through reading and that is why it is very important.

  1. Travel

You may have a very hard life. You may not have any time to explore. Make sure you take at least two days off every month to visit new places. It doesn’t necessarily have to be traveling to new cities or countries. It could simply be visiting different places in one area. Don’t make your life boring. If you have the money, spend it on seeing beautiful things around the world. Make life more adventurous. Travel with your buddies or family. Visit places you’ve never visited. Make a travel list, save some money and start planning now.

  1. Complete those things you have left undone

It may happen that you haven’t finished something and moved onto doing something new. Go back to those things and finish them. Why would you want to live an incomplete life? It can be an incomplete under-graduation or post-graduation degree, learning how to ride a bike, learning how swim or any other thing. Go back to university and finish that degree. Take classes to learn how to ride and swim. Finish these things and be joyful.

  1. Learn how to play an instrument

Instruments like guitar, drums, piano, ukulele, sitar, tabla, harmonium among others can provide a great amount of recreation. Take some time out and join classes. Learn how to play one instrument or even more than one if you feel like it. Instruments reduce stress and provide relaxation. It will barely take you half a year to learn the basic things about an instrument. After that, you can develop your skills even more if you wish to.

  1. Save money

If you are a money spender, make it a point to save money this New Year. Spend less on the things you usually splurge on. Make a weekly or monthly budget and stay within the limit. You can even spend less and save some money if you are planning on buying something expensive later. Spend less because money can come in use in case of emergency. It is better to save some cash than to have no cash when it is much needed.

  1. Enjoy life

At last, Relax! Don’t take in too much stress. Even if you have a lot of work to finish in very little time, avoid the burnout or overload. Make a schedule and stick to that schedule so you can finish all your work on time and still have some time to relax. Take time off. Have a bath, eat some food, go for a walk, watch a movie or go for a night out with your friends. Don’t take life too seriously. Make sure you enjoy each moment you live.
