The robbers, who are believed to be 7 to 8 in number looted 33 kg gold worth Rs 10 crore from Manappuram Finance company on the New Railway road on Thursday.
The armed men, also took away mobiles phones of the firm’s employees, who offer loans in lieu of gold deposits.
Bijender Singh Hooda, SHO, Civil Lines Police station, said, “The branch officials have given in their statement that 33 kg gold and Rs 8 lakh in cash has been robbed from the premises.”
An eyewitness, said “One of the robbers who hit the other guard was heavily drunk and his speech was also slurring,” he said.
