On Tape: Couple switches to Facebook LIVE as Kerala Police harass them

Date:

In another incident of moral policing, a couple in Thiruvananthapuram was allegedly arrested by the cops of Museum Police Station for sitting together in the park.

Infuriate by the police as they were harassing the couple, Vishnu Vichu used his phone to live stream the incident on Facebook, which has raised the issue of moral policing by local cops once again.

Soon after the incident, Vichu described the entire incident of Facebook and condemned the cops for their act.

In a Facebook post Vichu said:

My fault was that I had put my arm around the shoulder of my female friend. They accused us of being vulgar. We took a live video and asked them to say according to which law were we wrong. and they had no clear answer.

“They took us to the police station calling me things like bloody rascal. At the police station they called our parents. The policewoman who took us in the first place who didn’t even have a name tag was abusing my friend harshly. then they let us go, but when we demanded to wait for the media and see the AC they said they will charge us,” he added.

“At last they charged us a petty a released us. This is not the first or second time moral policing by the police itself is happening in this area. Our intention of responding is simple. This must stop,” Vichu said.

The video posted by the Vichu went viral and showed two female and one male cop asking the couple whether they were married and that sitting together in the park was ‘vulgar’.
