Liverpool vs Everton

Liverpool maintained their Merseyside derby supremacy at Anfield with a 3-1 victory over Everton.

Sadio Mane put the home team in driving seat after only eight minutes with a superb individual goal. Matthew Pennington equalised for Everton on 28 minutes after Liverpool failed to clear a corner but the congruence lasted less than three minutes as Philippe Coutinho restored Liverpool’s lead with a trademark curling shot.

Liverpool were dealt a blow after the break when Mane had to go off with an injury but his substitution, Divock Origi, made an instant impact, doubling the home team’s lead on the hour mark.

The win lifts Liverpool above Manchester City into third, level on 59 points with Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace won their fourth match in a row as Chelsea failed to maintain their 10-point lead at the top of the table.

Cesc Fabregas tapped in Eden Hazard’s brilliant cross to give the Blues a fifth-minute lead, but Sam Allardyce’s side rallied and struck twice in as many minutes.

Wilfried Zaha’s shot from just inside the box levelled before Christian Benteke who linked in his 10th goal of the season in the 11th minute.

Chelsea pushed in a bid to avoid only a second home defeat of the season but they had no answers for Wayne Hennessey, who saved superbly from Diego Costa, Marcos Alonso and Eden Hazard.

The win sends Crystal Palace four points clear of the relegation zone in 16th. Chelsea are now seven points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, who won at Burnley.

Burnley vs Tottenham Hotspurs

Tottenham Hotspurs finally cut the gap to table leaders Chelsea to seven points with a 2-0 win at Burnley.

Dele Alli fired the best chance of the first half over the bar before Spurs lost both Victor Wanyama and Harry Winks to injury.

Manchester United vs West Bromwich Albion

West Bromwich Albion produced a magnificent defensive display to deny Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Both Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial missed their chances before the break, while after half-time, Darren Fletcher scraped a close-range effort for the visitors before Marouane Fellaini missed from six yards for United.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan forced a fine save from Ben Foster and Rashford’s powerful 30-yard effort was also well saved, much to the frustration of Man United fans.

Wayne Rooney came on but could not make the difference as Fletcher’s shot was deflected on to the crossbar by David De Gea.

Foster was at his best again to thwart Rashford’s free-kick as West Brom held on for a point.

Arsenal vs Manchester City

Shkodran Mustafi’s header denied Manchester City a chance to move up to third position in the Premier League as Arsenal earned a 2-2 draw at Emirates Stadium.

The Germany international glanced Mesut Ozil’s corner past Willy Caballero to leave sixth-placed Arsenal within seven points of Man City in fourth.

The match got off to a blistering start, with Leroy Sane catching up with Kevin De Bruyne’s through ball, rounding David Ospina and slotting in Man City’s opening goal on five minutes, moments after Danny Welbeck shot went narrowly wide.

Theo Walcott levelled following Mustafi’s header into the penalty area on 40 minutes, before Sergio Aguero’s drilled effort from a tight angle put City back in front before half-time.

Aguero missed with a free header soon after the break, and Arsenal capitalised with Mustafi’s leveller.
