The famed Sri Krishna temple in Kerala on Saturday received a threat call. Security at the temple has been heightened, according to a statement from local police. The temple officials received a call from an unknown person in the morning who threatened that the shrine would be “destroyed”.
According to the police, the caller alleged that there was corruption in the administration of the temple.
Based on a complaint from the temple management, a case was registered and an investigation is being carried out. The police have taken steps to collect the Call Detail Record (CDR) to identify the caller.
The police have deployed additional police personnel in the temple premises and the bomb squad has intensified checks.
The Guruvayur Sri Krishna temple is one of the major pilgrimage centres in the Kerala, visited by millions of devotees every year.
