More than 5000 BJP workers have decided to quit the party because of their disagreement with the new beef policy by the ruling party. One of the youth leaders of the party quit BJP saying that the party is suppressing tribals and other beef eating communities, according to the reports.

Senior BJP leader in Meghalaya, Bernard Marak “The BJP is hurting sentiments here on the beef issue. Tribal society has its own laws. The BJP is trying to push Hindutva,” after quitting the party on June 1. He has also announced beef party at Eden Bari in Tura on June 10.
BJP General Secretary Bashailang Khongwir said “More workers are expected to quit due to the prevailing ant-party notion among them. Especially in the Garo Hills”.
However, BJP has indicated that the ban on beef is not applicable in North-Eastern states as the majority eats beef in the region. The crackdown on slaughterhouses like UP will not be replicated in these states.

Few of the states have severely criticized the policy of cattle slaughter ban by the central government. Kerala, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh have not decided to take this rule into consideration.
