IIT-JEE topper’s mantra, no smartphones and social media for 2 years

Topping Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Exam is one of the biggest achievement in India. It’s a mammoth task to achieve this height. Sarvesh Mehtani of Panchkula, this year’s topper sacrificed smartphone and social media for two long years to ace this competition.

It’s not at all an easy task in present day scenario when smartphones and social media has become an integral part of everybody’s life.

“I lose control when it comes to surfing net and social media. It’s very important to stay off the social circle to concentrate, I left all social media and smartphone to concentrate on cracking IIT-JEE. I was sure to get a good rank under 10 but getting rank 1 was a sheer delight”. Sarvesh Mehtani added.

Sarvesh wants to study computer science at IIT-Bombay. Infosys Co-founder N R Narayana Murthy is his role model, but he also got inspired by the movie 3 Idiots and its characters, especially Phunsuk Wangdu (Character played by Aamir Khan) to do engineering.

Sarvesh’s father is an Income Tax officer and his mother works in placement cell at the university.

Cracking such competitions are not new for him, he has cleared second round of National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) in Class X and has won several science Olympiads earlier.
