One of the greatest forest fire in the history engulfed central Portugal, claiming at least 57 lives on Saturday. Over 59 people have been injured and much more are missing in the forest fire. 600 firefighters have been deployed to bring the situation under control.

The blaze broke out on Saturday afternoon in the municipality of Pedrógão Grande, central Portugal. Several houses have been destroyed in the fire. The reason is yet unknown, but soaring temperature in the region with winds and lightning is said to be the reason behind the fire.
