Aussie Parliamentarian breastfeeds daughter while delivering a speech in Parliament

Date:

Multi-tasking is the need of the hour and a Greens party Parliamentarian in Australia, Larissa Waters, is a recent example of it as earlier this year she became the first politician to breastfeed in parliament.

Taking national duty and motherhood hand-in-hand, now Waters becomes the first to deliver a speech while breastfeeding, well because sometimes work can’t stop and babies can need you anytime.

Here she is breastfeeding her daughter, Alia Joy Waters while submitting a motion on black lung disease:

Later in a statement Waters said that she did it because Alia was hungry, and hoped it would normalise what is an everyday, human thing to do.

“Women have always worked and reared children, whether that work was paid in the workplace or unpaid in the home. I hope it helps to normalise breastfeeding and remove any vestige of stigma against breastfeeding a baby when they are hungry,” she said.

“I hope it sends a message to young women and mothers that they belong in places of power like the parliament,” Waters added.
