BMW launches the new 5 series premium sedan in India with post GST prices

BMW unveiled the seventh generation of the popular 5 Series at an event in Mumbai. The new BMW 5 Series was unveiled by company brand ambassador, Sachin Tendulkar. The new 5 series will be locally produced at BMW’s Chennai plant and will be available in petrol and diesel variants from July 1, 2017 onwards with the revised GST prices applied.

The new 5 series will be available in three diesel variants – BMW 520d Sport Line, the BMW 520d Luxury Line and the BMW 530d M Sport – and one petrol variant, the BMW 530i Sport Line. The price range starts from Rs 49 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 61 lakhs ex-showroom.

As with any update, the new 5 series has been packed with BMW Gesture Control, Remote Control Parking with BMW Display Key, Wireless Charging, Parking Assistant with Surround View and the next generation BMW Head up Display. Gesture Control allows the driver to use six pre-defined hand gestures to control a number of functions of the infotainment system. BMW’s headline-grabbing Remote Control Parking makes its way to the 5 series after debuting on the 7 Series luxury sedan. Owners can use the touch enabled Display Key to remotely park their car from outside the vehicle. The Parking Assistant further automate the chore of parking by utilizing sensors on the car to control acceleration, braking and placement.

Apart from these, all models of the new 5 Series come with ABS, EBD, six airbags, Run Flat Tyres and Dynamic Traction Control among other safety features as standard. BMW has included its improved EfficientDynamics technology to reduce fuel consumption and increase performance.
