Rains mean clogged drains, puddles on the road, traffic jams and romance. Yes, lots and lots of romance if you are with the right person. It’s also a time to take a breather especially if it is a weekend or just unwind listening to songs that make Monsoons in India so charming despite the civic hassles.

Nothing has given prominence to rains as much as Hindi films through the years. Songs that have stayed with us and come back to soothe our nerves as we wait patiently in traffic or wade through a make-shift sea on the roads.

4. Koi Ladki Hai, Dil To Pagal Hai (1997)

This super popular song with power packed performances from Madhuri and SRK, has etched itself into all our hearts. Uttam Singh’s peppy music and Shiamak Davar’s choreography create this vivacious yet innocent rainy number. One of the best rain songs to sing when jumping over puddles. 5. Woh lamhe, Zeher (2005)

This snazzy number by Atif Aslam has been one of Emraan Hashmi’s most popular songs. A massive hit during its time, it soared the charts and is a must have for your playlist. Errr… if seduction is on your agenda, then put it up full blast!

6. Barso re, Guru (2007)

A.R Rahman is a genius and that is no secret. He created magic with this musical piece, that stars Ayeshwaria Rai in the rain soaked lush green farms of villages in Kerala. Coupled with Gulzar’s lyrics, the soulful music and simple choreography has touched many a hearts because it is so relatable.

7. Bhaage re Mann, Chameli (2003)

This song with its charming music stars Kareena, who is dancing away to glory in colorful clothes enjoying the Mumbai Monsoons that wash away squalor of the otherwise busy city. Its a must hear, that instantly touches your heart.

8. Tum Hi Ho, Aashiqui 2 (2013)

Arjit Singh’s soulful voice, a beautiful rainy backdrop and Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in a romantic clinch. This song definitely created a defining moment for Hindi film romance. The melodious music added to the overall charm. Play it in a loop if you are with your sweetheart on a long drive.
