At a meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi summarized India-Israel relations with a simple catchphrase: “I for I and I with I.” The catchphrase stood for ‘India for Israel and India with Israel‘, signifying the deepening partnership between Israel and India.
President Rivlin welcomed PM Modi in their joint statement and remembered his earlier visit to India where he was impressed by India as a strong nation with strong ideas. The President went further and called PM Modi as the “greatest leader of the democracies in the world at this time.” The president emphasized that India and Israel’s relations are built on common values and experiences, taking the example of how Israel embarked on Make in Israel after its independence and hoped that Israel could cooperate and join a Make with India projects.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his gratitude for being welcomed so warmly by Israel and the Israeli people. PM Modi also took the opportunity to highlight how the President’s vision of Make with India was a sentiment shared by the Israeli people. He continued by saying that “Israel is a real friend,” providing a firm basis for the phrase “India for Israel and India with Israel.” PM Modi also lauded the President breaking protocol to receive the Prime Minister, which was a mark of respect for India’s 1.25 billion people.
