In major breakthrough by the Railway Police, the prime accused of the lynching a teenager Junaid Khan has been arrested from Dhule area of Maharashtra on Saturday, according to the reports.
Teenager Junaid Khan was allegedly lynched on a train bound from Ghaziabad to Mathura on June 22.
“The main accused in the Junaid Khan murder case has been arrested from Maharashtra’s Dhule area,” said a police official. The identification of the accused will be revealed after legal formalities, police added.
During the initial investigation, the accused has admitted having stabbed Junaid. He will be presented before the court on June 9, according to the police.
The gruesome incident happened when a group of men assaulted Junaid and his cousins with sharp objects in the train over the argument of a seat at Okhla railway station on June 22, according to the reports.
On July 4, the government announced Rs 4 lakh reward for providing information on the killer. The police were able to arrest five of the accused but prime accused was at large until now.
