As the border standoff between India and China continues in Sikkim, some unidentified people have vandalized stores selling phones from Chinese brands. According to reports, stores which featured Vivo and Oppo branding were targeted and vandalized.
India is a major market for Chinese products and have a presence in every sector of the market. Companies such as Vivo and Oppo offer affordable smartphones to consumers and have a strong retail presence in several markets.
However, targeted vandalism could prove harmful to Indian businesses as the vandalizers only damage the property of Indian business owners and are not affecting the Chinese corporations.
