R.K. Mishra, a 1986 batch IPS officer has taken over as the ADG (Additional Director General) of 90,000 personnel strong force of ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) on Monday.
The lone post of ADG was previously under NDRF from 2014 by the order of Union Ministry. The ministry cleared that order for reverting the post to ITBP keeping in mind the situation of Sikkim, where ITBP guards 3,488-km long China border.
“It was felt that the ADG office in ITBP is very important when it comes to the operational effectiveness of the force. Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi had recently reviewed the working of the force and had assured that the post will soon be restored,” said an official.
IPS Mishra of Jharkhand cadre was previously posted as ADG in another paramilitary CISF. He is known for his leading a number of anti-Naxal operations in Jharkhand during his stint as the IG of the CRPF.
