Date:

The PM today addressed the nation through the monthly Mann Ki Baat program. Here are some of the highlights:

PM Modi wished the country ahead of Holi on March 2.

Ahead of the International Women’s Day on March 8, he quoted Swami Vivekananda, “the idea of perfect womanhood is perfect independence”.

The Prime Minister said, “Today, in every sphere of life, it is our duty to ensure the equal participation of women.” He said, India is moving from women development towards women-led development.

“I request you to become a part of the revolution of clean energy and green jobs. Turn waste into wealth in your villages, turn ‘gobar’ into ‘gobar-dhan’”, PM Modi said.

Speaking on the ‘GOBAR-Dhan Yojana’ he said, it will immensely benefit those living in rural areas. He appreciated the ‘Trash Mahotsav’ in Chhattisgarh.

“In this budget, emphasis was laid on ‘waste to wealth’ and ‘waste to energy’ through bio-gas for villages under ‘Swacch Bharat’ initiative called ‘GOBAR-Dhan’ (Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resources) has been rolled out,” he said.

Lauding heroes who work in relief and rescue operations across the country, he said, “We must become a risk-conscious society and understand values of safety. Staying alert and vigilant will help prevent accidents.”

He also congratulated all students and scientists on the National Science Day. He said, “science and technology are value neutral. It is dependent on how we use machines. Here human intention becomes important. Technology must be used only for the welfare of humankind.”

He further said that, “India has a legacy of great scientists. Technology and artificial intelligence must be used towards ensuring welfare of poor and underprivileged.”

He also shared a recording of a phone call from Meerut. The caller asked the PM for words of advice for the youth to develop scientific temperament.

“I urge the scientists to find ways in which we can enhance lives of our ‘divyang’ brothers & sisters through artificial intelligence. Also, can we make use of Artificial intelligence in early detection of natural calamities?” he asked.

The PM also gave tips to students to advance scientific thinking.

He congratulated people of Elephanta Islands on three of its villages getting electricity for first time after “spending 70 years in darkness”. He called it a new development phase.
