Suspended FBI deputy dir McCabe fired days before retirement, loses pension

Date:

The US President, Donald Trump has a reason to be happy as the “removed” FBI Deputy Director, Andrew McCabe has been dismissed from his services by the US Justice Department on the eve of his retirement.

It was concluded that McCabe made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked condor while being under oath on multiple occasions. He blamed it on the “chaos around him” as the excuse in each occasion.

He was removed and now, dismissed on the grounds of lying to the investigators, reviewing the probe of former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email server case.

McCabe briefly served as acting director of the bureau after his boss, James Comey was fired in May 2017 by the Trump Administration.

He abruptly left his active role as deputy FBI director in January 2018 after the new FBI director, Christopher Wray, received a briefing about the forthcoming Justice Department Inspector General report and its findings about McCabe.

“Pursuant to Department Order 1202, and based on the report of the Inspector General, the findings of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), and the recommendation of the Department’s senior career official, I have terminated the employment of Andrew McCabe effective immediately,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement released to the media.

Sessions further said, after conducting an extensive investigation and following the procedures of the Department of Justice, the Office of the Inspector General, headed by Michael Horowitz, have filed its report. The report filed allegations of misconduct by McCabe to the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility.

This brings to rest months of speculations about McCabe’s fate after the US President, Donals Trump had dismissed McCabe’s then boss, James Comey and allegedly asked McCabe to ask his “wife how it feels like to be a loser?”

McCabe’s wife, Jill, ran for the state Senate in Virginia in 2015 but lost.

Earlier, Trump had seized on the news that McCabe planned to step down in March when he became eligible for pension benefits and tweeted, “FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is racing the clock to retire with full benefits. 90 days to go?!!!”

Today, the President tweeted hours after the dismissal with,

In 2009 when Hillary Clinton served as the Secretary of State, she allegedly used her personal email address to send work-related documents, which also included certain classified information in connection with the White, House thus breaching the security and the laws governing the US president house.

The FBI’s OPR reviewed the report and additional documents while issuing a disciplinary proposal that recommended the dismissal of McCabe.

“All FBI employees know that lacking candor under oath results in dismissal and that our integrity is our brand”, the FBI proposal read.

The report said that McCabe was “removed” from his post as deputy to FBI Director Christopher Wray in January, setting in motion a plan to leave the bureau after months of conflict-of-interest complaints from Republicans, including President Donald Trump.

McCabe was hoping to retire Sunday, when he becomes eligible for his full benefits. McCabe was expecting to collect a pension based on his nearly 22 years of service with the bureau.
