JNU professor Atul Johri faces charges of ‘sexual harassment’, arrested by Police

The Jawaharlal Nehru University professor Atul Johri on Tuesday was accused of harassing students sexually, arrested after being summoned by the police for questioning.

So far eight women have filed complaints against the professor, who teaches at the School of Life Sciences. The students union has also been protesting on campus against him.

JNU students on Monday clashed with the police during a protest outside the Vasant Kunj Police Station in south Delhi.

Patiala House Court granted bail for Johri after he said that sending him to jail will affect his career. 14 days of judicial custody has been appealed by the police to question him.

Johri resigned from an administrative role on March 16 after the complaints were filed against him.
