Women and children gathered at Peshawar as Pashtun tribes protest against Pakistan govt

Date:

Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) organised a gathering at Peshawar’s Ring Road on Sunday where thousands participated against a major uprisin against the Pakistani government and its military establishment from the Pashtun tribes.

Protesters which included women, children and students brought the photographs of  their loved ones, who have been missing as a result of forced abductions, which they claim, has been done by the Pakistan armed forces.

After a long march against the extrajudicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud, a young boy who was killed in a fake encounter in Karachi by the then Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rao Anwar, a long march towards Islamabad is the second protest by PTM.

After weeks long protest in Islamabad, the government agreed to arrest Rao Anwar and compensate and recover missing persons, abducted by the army and removal of landmines from residential areas in FATA.

As the government failed to fulfill its commitments, the PTM – 2 is on its way to Islamabad in full flow, this time with a much bigger and stronger intensity. PTM is being blamed to be supported by Afghanistan by various outlets in Pakistan, which is denied by PTM.

PTM says they were well aware of the government’s failure but still gave them time to live up to their word.

Now, with PTM-2 travelling from FATA and reaching Peshawar today, the numbers and headcounts have increased immensely as the gathering is now in thousands and increasing rapidly.

Islamabad to be a major and massive resistance by PTM after Peshawar that After Peshawar the federal government and law-enforcement agencies will have to encounter.
