Battle for Karnataka: Check out BJP’s first list of candidates for assembly polls

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party seems to pulling up the socks as the BJP on Sunday eleased the first list of candidates for Karnataka Elections 2018.

The meeting to decide the list was chaired by BJP national president Amit Shah, and the attendees included Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, former Karnataka chief minister B. S. Yeddyurappa, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, among others.

The first list names 72 candidates in total, here are the names-

The BJP is striving to return to power after five years, and has announced Yeddyurappa as its chief ministerial candidate.

Ahead of the Karnataka Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary Ram Madhav has been roped in to help boost the party’s election campaign in the state. As per sources, Madhav is looking at crucial aspects of BJP’s campaign, and also held a series of meetings with top Sangh functionaries, intellectuals and civil society members, in Bengaluru, earlier in the day.

Madhav has been tasked to push for a decisive shift in campaign efforts and will be working to repeat the party’s performance in Tripura election campaign.

Congress leader G Parameshwara had earlier told PTI that the party would announce its candidates for all the 224 Assembly seats in the state in a “single phase” by 15 April.

Karnataka is slated to go to polls on 12 May, while counting of votes will take place on 15 May.
