Sensex closed points 0.33% higher at 34,305, led by pvt banks

The 30-index benchmark Sensex and the broad-based Nifty 50 gained for the eighth straight session on Monday led by private banking stocks. The BSE Sensex closed 0.33 per cent higher at 34,305.43, while the Nifty 50 gained 0.46 per cent, to close at 10,528.35.

The sectoral gainers were realty, healthcare and FMCG , while IT, tech and consumer durables declined. Housing Development Finance Corp Ltd and HDFC Bank Ltd were the top contributors to the indexes with gains of 1.6 percent and 0.9 percent respectively.

Meanwhile, India’s annual wholesale price inflation eased down to 2.47 per cent in March as compared to last year, helped by a fall in food prices.
