Capture your Holi moments with waterproof smartphones

Date:

New Delhi: Who says electronics and water don’t mix? Smartphones that can handle the rain, a dunk in the bathtub or a tumble into a puddle are the decade’s biggest trends and there are more on the way.

We know splash-proof may not be at the top of your list when picking a new phone.

NewsMobile brings you a list of waterproof smartphones which will make your Holi more colourful without the fear of being damaged.

Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung Galaxy S5 is one of the water-resistant smartphones that you can boast off this Holi. Turn on the ‘high sensitivity’ setting and this S5 will work even with wet fingers or gloves on.

One convenient addition to S5 is that the headphone jack does not need a flap as it is coated internally to avoid letting any water in.

This 5.1 inch Super AMOLED touch screen device comes with a Quad-core 2.5GHz Krait 400 processor and 2GB RAM. The mobile is available in 16GB and 32GB variants along with a 128GB external card support.

Sony Xperia Z3

Xperia Z3 is IP68 certified and is dust proof and water resistant. The Z3 sports a 5.2 inch IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.

The device is powered by a Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 processor and 3GB RAM. Like the S5, the Z3 is also available in two variants – 16GB and 32GB. However, you can expand the memory up to 128GB using the microSD card.

HTC Desire Eye

This is an IP67 certified android phone from HTC which sports a 5.2 inch touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.

The device is powered by a Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 processor and 2GB RAM. The 16GB internal memory can be expanded up to 128GB.

With its front-facing 13MP camera the Desire Eye handset is being plugged by HTC as the ‘ultimate selfie phone’.

The phone can continue to operate after it has been immersed in water up to 1m deep for 30 minutes. It will also allow you to make and receive calls, even with wet hands and without an umbrella, under moderate rain.

CAT B15Q

The CAT B15Q is rugged handset and also a smart and reliable super-tough smartphone. Equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat, Bluetooth v 4.0, it is dust, water and shock-proof.

However, unlike most other super-tough phones on the market, it also packs a good deal of smartphone-type features. It is perfect for your ‘Holi’day as it comes with a 4’’ capacitive touchscreen with wet-finger tracking.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Active

With its IP67 rating that makes it shock, dust and waterproof, the S5 Active Sport is essentially the same as its flagship counterpart. But, Samsung added a few tweaks, however.

Principally, it removed the fingerprint scanner, and added a convenient active key that also works as a camera shutter. It also has physical softkey buttons and a rubberized case.

Moto G

Motorola was among the first smartphone manufacturers to come up with the idea of water-resistant phones, but this was sometimes back before Android took over the smartphone world. Moto G is equipped with the latest chipset in addition to being nano-coated for water resistivity.

Even though it is not rated according to IP standards, it is the best phone to have as it can handle small water spills and dampness.

The Moto G 2nd Generation is the successor to the highly successful Moto G. With a 5-inch HD screen and an incredibly fast Quad-Core processor, you can expect a smooth smartphone experience wherever you go. The phone is also protected with Corning Gorilla Glass which gives you extra protection from everyday scratches and scrapes.

Samsung S7710 Galaxy Xcover 2

The tough and rugged Samsung S7710 Galaxy Xcover 2 is the successor to the S5690 Galaxy Xcover smartphone. It has a larger screen, faster processor (1GHz), larger internal memory (4GB) and comes with operating system Android v4.1 Jelly Bean.

The device sports a 5MP camera with higher video resolution. It is slightly larger than its predecessor, but the working memory has been doubled to 1GB with 4GB of internal memory.

So, stop worrying about your phone and capture your colourful moments this Holi.
