Worker from Bihar held for sexual assault and murder of infant

Coimbatore, Aug 26 (PTI) A 22-year-old migrant workerfrom Bihar was today arrested for allegedly sexuallyassaulting and murdering an eight-month-old baby girl in thedistrict, police said. The baby was found dead with bleeding injuries lastevening at Kondekoundanpalayam village, where about 25families, hailing from Bihar, were staying and working inprivate textile and coir units. Police took Sanjith into custody this morning while hewas waiting for a bus to go to the railway station. Police said during interrogation, he confessed to thecrime. He told police that as he found the baby lying alone, heattempted to sexually assault her and when she started crying,he banged her head on the floor, resulting in her death, theysaid.
