Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says, “Oh crap, she’s up!”
The devil here is anyone who thinks women deserve less, women are objects, women can’t do it or women can be used and abused sexually, emotionally or physically for prejudiced one-upmanship.
This then should be the new motto of International Women’s Day 2018 to take #MeToo to the next level, beyond the faddish selfies and ephemeral tweets into a zone where it become part of our very DNA.
Only when the now generation imbibes the #BeyondMeToo spirit in the true sense will the next generation grow in an atmosphere of holistic women’s empowerment and basic human dignity, where we see Malala Yousafzai’s plucky’s “girl with a book” in each next-gen female and where “there is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish,” in the inspiring words of Michelle Obama.
The revolution that such a philosophy can trigger will be a huge deterrent for every kind of devil from future Purvey Harvey’s who think nothing of reducing a woman’s dignity to shreds to the pervert on the street who dares to throw a semen-filled balloon on young girls.
Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women. Here’s hoping women stand up for each other so that one day Time deems it fit to salute women for not just “being the silence breakers” but the “revolution makers!” Happy International Women’s Day. Let’s pledge to go #BeyondMeToo
