Why SC’s ban on fire crackers deserves applause

Amid the concern of rising pollution levels and killer air quality during the festive season in and around the national capital, the Supreme Court on Monday finally put a ban on the sale of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR which came in as a huge relief for millions breathing toxic air which worsens because of fire crackers.

‘Better late than never’ is the phrase that truly goes by the move by the apex court.

But around the praise there are some in the lunatic fringe category including author Chetan Bhagat, who tried to give the issue a communal colour.
