New Delhi: The Union Government announced new rules to ensure a civil servant spends a minimum of two years at each posting. The new rules also aims at checking political interference, any premature transfers or new appointments will only be done by a civil services board. Transfers for exceptional reasons, within a lesser period, to be done by a very high powered civil service board headed by, in each state and at the centre, persons of the rank of chief secretary or additional chief secretary and principal secretary.
The new rule governs Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Forest Service (IFS). The government has also set up a development board for nomadic tribes. “The government for the first time has constituted a development board for them. It will deliberate on ways and means for their development, give suggestions and implement it,” said Abhishek Manu Singhvi. The population of such tribes is believed to be 1.5cr.
