London: Scientists have claimed the obsession with selfies is fuelling the desire to undergo cosmetic surgery among young people. Experts said the relentless rise of the mobile phone pictures and fixation on celebrity culture is creating unrealistic expectations.
According to Marc Pacifico, from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, young people felt under “incessant pressure” to be perfect, comparing themselves to digitally enhanced photos of others. He said youngsters often make themselves look better by taking out blemishes and put huge pressure on other young people to conform to some sort of ideal image.
