BJP complains to EC on Cobrapost sting

New Delhi:  BJP on Thursday complained to the Election Commission on Cobrapost sting operation on the Babri Masjid demolition, demanding a ban on its publication or broadcast. It questioned the timing of the operation and called it Congress-sponsored.

Cobrapost claimed the razing of the mosque was pre-planned, and VHP and Shiv Sena trained the cadre for the demolition. The website further claims that then Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao and UP Chief Minister Kalyan Singh knew of the plot. For the demolition, a suicide squad of trained RSS workers was formed, and VHP, RSS and Shiv Sena activists were trained in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

An RSS spokesperson said, “Every sting operation has to be taken with a pinch of salt. The timing suggests they want to disrupt peace.”
