TCS woman employee killed 9 injured in Chennai blasts

Chennai: The woman killed in the twin blasts in the Bangalore-Guwahati Express at the Chennai Central Railway Station was a TCS employee, Swati Parachuri (24). Her family belongs to Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Tata Consultancy Services has confirmed the report.

Ten others were injured in the blasts that occurred around 7:15 am as the train just arrived at Platform 9 for a 10-minute stop. The blasts, though of minor intensity, occurred under the seat of a woman, who was killed on the spot.

The nature of the blast is not known yet. A National Investigation Agency team is going to Chennai to join the investigations.

The state government has announced compensation of one lakh for the family of the woman who died, Rs 55,000 for those who are critically injured and Rs 5,000 for the injured.
