Mauritius: the summer escape

For all the seekers of a summer destination hailing from the above the equator will find a haven on the island of Mauritius. The climate is tropical and coastal for most part of the year but the summer months from November to April can get humid.The winter months are June to September when the average temperature is about 20 degrees, quite perfect for gallivanting on the pristine beaches and immaculate mountains.

The most common languages are English and French, most locals can speak both. Mauritius is a highly multi-lingual and multi- cultural nation, and therefore is ranked very high when it comes to freedom and tolerance. Besides the spotless white sand beaches, the island is also host to mountain ranges and forest that house some of the rarest species of animals and plant. Eco- tourism is a growing fad and you can try trekking or kayaking through the island to experience the island’s natural world. The Botanical gardens of Mauritius is known to naturalists around the globe for its large number of rare flora collection.
 
The Grand Bay, along with the beaches has a large number of shopping options, restaurants, bars, discos etc. in case you’re looking for a night out. Belle mare has miles and miles of pristine beaches and small coves. Perhaps one of the most famous destinations would be the beautiful multi-colored earth of Chamarel, which has resulted because of volcanic activity.
 
Mauritius received the World Leading Island Destination award for three years straight and the World’s Best Beach at the World Travel Awards in January 2012.

For all the golf aficionados, Mauritius has one of the world best and most beautiful golf courses. Perhaps the best would be ‘One&Only Le Touessrok Golf Course, which is on its own island fringed with white sand beaches and a backdrop of mountains.
