Paramount eyes rights to Martin Scorseses Silence

Washington: Paramount Pictures is in negotiations to get hold of the US distribution rights for Martin Scorsese’s ‘ Silence’, with plans to release the film November 2015 to make way into the Oscars.

The film, which is an adaptation of the Shusako Endo’s novel is scripted by ‘Gangs Of New York’ writer Jay Cocks, and stars Liam Neeson, Andrew Garfield , Ken Watanabe and Adam Driver.

The film is set in the 17th century, and shows two Jesuit priests face violence and persecution during their journey to Japan to locate their mentor and to spread Christianity.

Scorsese’s long-awaited project finally which is being produced by Randall Emmett and George Furla along with Emma Tillinger Koskoff and Irwin Winkler and Corsan Entertainment co-financing, would shortly begin filming in Taiwan.
