Terrorist strike in J&K foiled

Date:

Srinagar: Two terrorist attacks on Monday night, on the eve of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to J & K, signal the evil designs anti-India forces are preoccupied with.

Terrorists attacked a convoy of BSF injuring seven personnel, including Assistant Commander, who is in a critical condition. The attack took place on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway near Pampore area at 9:41 PM. In yet another attempt of infiltration, the Indian Army foiled it and intercepted over seven terrorists in Panjinala area of Balakot sector in Poonch. The firing continued till 12:30 AM after which terrorists fled to Pakistani side.

These two attacks come ahead of Modi’s visit to Leh. The Prime Minister is scheduled to address the troops posted in Leh soon after landing. He is the first Prime Minister to visit Kargil after the war in 1999.

The visit is also significant politically as it comes ahead of the Assembly elections in J & K. In the last Lok Sabha polls, the BJP won three seats in the state, including the Leh seat.
