Power corporation official arrested for taking bribe

Chandigarh: An official of Punjab state power corporation was arrested on Friday for allegedly taking bribe for reducing penalty imposed on a consumer.

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) SDO Harpreet Singh, posted at Rajpura in Patiala district, was arrested by sleuths of Punjab Vigilance Bureau while accepting Rs 8,000, a spokesperson of the bureau said. He said the SDO was nabbed on the complaint of Parmjit Singh. Parmjit had alleged that the SDO demanded the bribe for reducing the penalty of Rs 54,000 imposed on him for his domestic electricity connection.
