Guintoli wins world Superbike title

France’s Sylvain Guintoli won the world Superbike title on Sunday after a season-long battle with Britain’s Tom Sykes which went down to the last round in Qatar.

The Aprilia rider edged out the defending world champion Sykes, on a Kawasaki, by winning both of Sunday’s races under the floodlights of the Losail circuit.

Guintoli ends the season with 416 points to Sykes’ 410.
