Brisbane: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Brisbane for the G-20 Summit on Friday. He was received by the Premier of Queensland Campbell Newman. His trip will be the first undertaken by an Indian Prime Minister in 28 years.
Prime Minister Modi had left for Brisbane on Thursday after concluding a highly successful visit of Myanmar. There he attended the ASEAN-India summit and the East Asia Summit on November 12-13 in Myanmar.
After attending the G-20 Summit in Brisbane, Modi is scheduled to travel to Sydney, where he will attend a community reception and address the Indian Diaspora.
The Prime Minister will then travel to Canberra and address the special joint sitting of the Australian Parliament on November 18. He is also to address a community event in Melbourne.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi participated in the East Asia Summit (EAS) and interacted with the leaders of the fellow member nations.
He also had successful meetings with the Indonesian and Philippines President, the Chinese Premier and the Russian Prime Minister on the side-line of the summit.
Showing hopes of better ties, the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang invited Modi to visit Beijing.
During his meeting with the Chinese Premier, Prime Minister Modi said the recent visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping will be remembered as a memorable visit.
Modi had later asserted that the world’s perception about India has changed, and they were looking at ways to connect with New Delhi.
