Singer Lady Gaga revealed she was raped as a teenager by a music producer almost twice her age, in an attack that left her an emotional wreck.

“I went through some horrific things that I’m able to laugh now, because I’ve gone through a lot of mental and physical therapy and emotional therapy to heal over the years,” Gaga, now 28, said.

The shock revelation came live on radio on Tuesday night during an interview with broadcaster Howard Stern, in which the singer said she was just 19.

The multi-award-winning artist is not alone in her adversity. There are several other celebrities who confessed to have had the misfortune of being included in this statistic. Many spoke of their experiences to help other victims of rape move on with their lives.

 

Madonna

Madonna revealed in 2013, how she endured a terrifying knifepoint rape on the roof of a New York City building. The attack happened shortly after the future Material Girl arrived in Manhattan — and it wasn’t her only traumatic experience.

New York “did not welcome me with open arms,” Madonna, 55, wrote in a candid essay. “The first year, I was held up at gunpoint. Raped on the roof of a building I was dragged up to with a knife in my back.”

Though Madonna does not specify how old she was, the Michigan native arrived in the Big Apple in 1978 — meaning she would be around 20 at the time of the attack. The budding star did not report the sex assault to cops and remained quiet.

 

Teri Hatcher

Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher had revealed in 2006 of being abused as a child by her uncle.

In a heart-rending interview the 41-year- old actress told how she even considered killing herself after she was molested by Richard Hayes Stone from the age of five.

She eventually overcame her fear and helped convict her perverted relative after another of his victims committed suicide.

Oprah Winfrey, who made a career by encouraging people from the showbiz world to open up about their innermost thoughts and emotions, discussed her traumatic first-hand experience of child abuse during a chat show in 2012.

 

Shia LaBeouf

Hollywood star Shia LaBeouf recently revealed he was raped in an art gallery during a performance of his art project, #IAMSORRY. The actor was performing as a silent audience to individual visitors when, he says, an abuser – a woman – “whipped my legs for 10 minutes and then stripped my clothing and proceeded to rape me”.

It’s extraordinary, but his clear, personal testimony is an account that some are unwilling to believe.
