Gurgaon: Serial sexual offender, Uber cab driver, Shiv Kumar Yadav made Gurgaon malls his hunting ground to assault woman leaving the metropolitan’s malls, cinema halls, restaurants and pubs.
The man accused of raping a 25-year-old woman, on Thursday admitted to have sexually assaulted many women.
Yadav ran his cab service mostly at night, waiting for customers. He would take special interest in lurking around pubs and bars, hoping for women to come out and hire his cab, too buzzed to resist his advances.
According to a report, he also frequently offered rides to sex workers late in the night – his favourite being MG Road in Gurgaon – in return for sexual favours. He used this to counter rape charges in 2011 by accusing the incident as consensual sex-for-money. In the most recent incident of December 5, his lawyers contend that the victim had asked for Rs 20,000 to let him have his way.
During interrogation, Yadav revealed his revolting belief of being a female magnet. He told police interrogators that women naturally succumbed to his charm. Interrogators found him obsessed with sex, and his consummate urge to lie and mislead.
The fixation further justified by his mobile phones packed with porn, the glove compartment of his cab well-stocked with contraceptives. He also had two driving licences, one illegal. He said he owned only one phone (an iPhone given by Uber), but the police recovered two more.
While Uber Cabs suspended all its services in New Delhi with effect from Thursday, a Delhi court sent the accused into a judicial custody till December 24 after being produced by the police on Thursday evening.
