Rajasthan govt cancels Vadra’s land deal

Date:

Jaipur: Taking decisive action against Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra’s allegedly dubious land deals in Bikaner, the state government has cancelled mutation of land purchased by his firm Skylight Hospitality Private Limited.

Vadra’s Skylight Hospitality’s transaction with DLF had been under the scanner for a long time.

Reports said Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje-led government has cancelled the mutation of around 360 hectares land in Bikaner’s Kolayat tehsil.

Most of the land that Vadra bought in Bikaner has been sold and resold and part of what he bought to was sold and resold many times in the past.

Vadra earned an estimated Rs 20 crore by buying land cheap in area that was to become hub of solar energy plants and is accused of being beneficiary of insider trading by being tipped off about solar policy of centre before it was announced.

The decision to cancel mutation was taken by the collector Bikaner. It is not yet known if entire 360 hectare is with Skylight Hospitality at present.

Vadra had purchased the land in 2010 and in 2006-07, allotted it illegally to some villagers, who were shown as farmers. Further probe has been ordered into the case.

“I have been opposing these deals since 2010 when these deals started happening. I had said farmer’s lands aren’t for trade; law will take its course. Law is equal for everyone,” Bikaner MP Arjun Ram Meghwal said.

“Wherever Robert Vadra misused his power and broke revenue laws, action should be taken and investigation should happen”, he added.

“The investigation proved that the land had been acquired from fake persons. Wrongdoers will not be spared,” BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said.

Meanwhile, the Congress party spokesperson Rashid Alvi said the Court hasn’t said anything. “The government is making statements. They just want to bother Robert Vadra”, he said.
