Radcliffe set for London Marathon swansong

Date:

British world record-holder Paula Radcliffe will race her final marathon in London on April 26, organisers announced on Wednesday.

The 41-year-old has won the London Marathon three times, but last took part in the race nine years ago and has not completed a marathon since the Berlin race in September 2011.

“We are absolutely thrilled that Paula has chosen London for her final marathon and we know the British crowds will be out in force on 26 April to celebrate her extraordinary career,” said race director Hugh Brasher.

Radcliffe set her world record of two hours, 15 minutes and 25 seconds in the 2003 London Marathon.

She has not been named among the elite runners for the race, which include defending champion Edna Kiplagat and fellow Kenyans Florence Kiplagat, Priscah Jeptoo and Mary Keitany.
